- Description: A maintainable map of business objects, systems, authority, copies, transformations, and handoffs gives operators practical systems literacy. It clarifies why records disagree, where reconciliation belongs, and how workflows can fail as work crosses application boundaries.

Operators need a map of business systems because work crosses boundaries vendors pretend are clean.

A customer journey may touch marketing automation, CRM, CPQ, billing, product analytics, support, finance, a data warehouse, and three workflow tools. Each system sees part of the business. None of them sees the whole thing in the same way.

The map can be modest. It needs to answer operating questions: which objects live where, which system owns which facts, where copies are made, which workflows depend on each handoff, and where reconciliation happens when records disagree.

Without that map, every integration conversation starts from vibes. Sales asks why billing did not update. Finance asks why the CRM has a different parent account. Support asks why product usage does not match the customer tier. Nobody is necessarily wrong; they are looking at different slices of truth.

A useful map should show objects alongside applications. Customer, account, contract, invoice, product, user, entitlement, employee, vendor, ticket, project, and task are the units operators recognize. Put the systems around those objects. Then mark authority, copy, transform, and read-only surfaces.

This keeps the series in its lane. We are not designing an enterprise architecture textbook. We are giving operators enough literacy to know where truth lives, how it moves, and where it commonly breaks.

The best map is boring enough to maintain. If a new tool is bought, a sync changes, or a workflow starts writing back to a system, the map should change with it. Otherwise it becomes wall art.
