Trust reduces the checking a team has to do before work can move.

Low-trust teams spend their week on verification: extra status meetings, defensive updates, approval loops, and quiet rework. The work may still get done, but every handoff carries tax.

The operator move is to find one place where people are waiting because they do not trust the owner, the data, the decision, or the follow-through. Then create evidence. A clear owner, a dated commitment, a visible risk, or a clean handoff beats another speech about alignment.

Operator artifact: make a small trust ledger for one recurring delay. Columns: what people doubt, what that doubt costs, what proof would shrink the doubt, who owns the next proof.

Field test: Map one recurring delay and remove one trust tax from it this week.
