I use this site as a public learning system: part reading notebook, part operating manual, part collection of profiles, ideas, and essays on how people and companies actually work.
I live in Quebec with my wife, two kids, and our dog. I work as Head of BizOps at Shakepay. Before that I was Head of BizOps at Replit, built a boutique strategy-execution consulting firm, and started my career in professional services implementing enterprise search.
I’m curious about a lot of things. I particularly like jazz, and I like meeting people who are building, operating, learning, or thinking out loud. I’m @anbuteau on Twitter/X.
What to read here
The site has three main entry points.
Daily Digest
A daily reading digest with the best things I came across, plus short notes on why they were worth saving. Start here if you want a regular feed of ideas across strategy, operations, AI, markets, people, and judgment.
Profiles
Lessons from founders, operators, investors, writers, executives, builders, and unusual people worth studying. These are attempts to extract useful patterns from specific lives, not hero worship.
Series
Structured deep dives on company-building, operating systems, AI, strategy, product, communication, judgment, trust, and personal effectiveness. If you want the most developed thinking on the site, read the series.
