Reliability is the boring base layer of trust.
Charisma can open the door. Missed commitments teach the organization to add padding around you. Once that happens, people stop depending on your promises and start managing around them.
Reliability improves when commitments get smaller and sharper. Do not say "I will handle it" when the real promise is "I will send the revised numbers by Thursday noon, with the open assumptions marked." Precision gives people something to trust.
Operator artifact: use a reliability check before accepting work. Write the owner, condition of done, dependency, risk, deadline, and early-warning trigger. If any field is fuzzy, the promise is not ready.
Field test: Choose fewer commitments, state done clearly, and warn early enough that the miss is not a surprise.
