Repair starts when the miss becomes specific.
Vague apologies do not rebuild confidence. People need to know what happened, what it cost, what changed, and why the same failure is less likely next time.
The repair should reduce future risk, not merely express regret. Name the commitment. Name the impact. Name the cause without hiding behind it. Then offer the new operating rule and a proof point people can watch.
Operator artifact: use a repair note: commitment missed / impact / cause / change / next proof. Keep it short. The more injured the trust, the less useful your essay becomes.
Field test: Repair one small miss with a changed rule, not a better intention.
