The best conflicts leave behind a better operating rule.
If every conflict ends with people trying harder, the system learned nothing. The repair may be a clearer owner, sharper standard, better handoff, or earlier review point.
After the heat drops, ask what made the conflict likely. Was the deadline fake, the owner absent, the standard private, or the risk surfaced too late? Fix that and the conflict stops being merely interpersonal residue.
Operator artifact: after-action note: conflict, root mismatch, new rule, owner of rule, first review date.
Field test: After resolution, ask what rule would have made this conflict smaller.
This is part 9 of 10 in Conflict Without Damage.
